Couture house Yves Saint Laurent was founded in 1961 by the groundbreaking designs of Algerian born Mr. Saint Laurent. His artistic talents were seen early on as an assistant for Christian Dior. In the late 1950’s, Laurent proceeds and takes over as head designer for the House of Dior at the age of twenty-one.
Once at his own firm, with life partner Pierre Bergé, they created the luxury fashion house YSL.
