Yves Saint Laurent Bio

Couture house Yves Saint Laurent was founded in 1961 by the groundbreaking designs of Algerian born Mr. Saint Laurent. His artistic talents were seen early on as an assistant for Christian Dior. In the late 1950’s, Laurent proceeds and takes over as head designer for the House of Dior at the age of twenty-one.

Once at his own firm, with life partner Pierre Bergé, they created the luxury fashion house YSL. The house, known for their trendy designs of safari jackets and beatnik wears as well as their iconic staple pieces of the pantsuit and tuxedo look for women. The Muse, Tribute, Downtown, Easy and Rive Gauche are the names of some of the most popular handbags to the house and its designs, both accessory and ready-to-wear, have been spotted on celebrities such as Catherine Deneuve, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Moore, Nicole Richie and many more.
