Dan-Axel Zagadou explains decision to quit PSG for Dortmund in 2017

Speaking in an interview with RMC Sport, 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou explained his decision to depart PSG in 2017.

“I spent 6 years at PSG, 6 years in the youth academy, it was magnificent. I am the player that I am today thanks to my time in the youth academy, where I learned everything… I was disappointed because when you sign for PSG or any other club, the aim is to finish by being in the 1st team. That was my aim. In the end, it is true that it went badly, certain things that were said to me, I did not really appreciate them, so we preferred to go our separate ways… I was not convinced by what they were telling me, they were saying the same things to multiple players in my position (about ascending from the youth team into the 1st team and receiving playing time). I preferred to leave and I don’t regret it.”
