PSG on the verge of Xavi Simons (19) contract extension before PSV Eindhoven loan-deal

According to Fabrizio RomanoParis Saint-Germain are close to a ‘full agreement’ with Xavi Simons (19) on a long term contract – with negotiations in the final stages before a loan out to Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven. Simons was close to leaving the club a month ago, but is now set for a long term deal.

After joining PSG from Barcelona’s U16 side, the young Dutch U19 international attacking midfielder will soon return to his native Netherlands on loan from the Parisian side. Simons has been disappointed with the lack of game time being given to him and other young players at the club, after promises were made but not honoured by PSG.

However, it seems that the player has come to an agreement with the club, which will see him receive some much-needed minutes in the Eredivisie next season. Last season Simons only made 6 appearances for PSG’s senior side – but he performed well in the UEFA youth league for the club’s academy, starting all 7 games and scoring 4 goals with 6 assists.

The attacking midfielder’s new contract will come as good news for new sporting director at PSG, Luis Campos, who has been desperate to keep the Parisian side’s best youth players in the club. Earlier today it was reported that Campos was involved in a last-ditch attempt to keep U19 starlet Ayman Kari, who is set to snuff a professional contract at PSG and sign for Bayern Munich.
