When I first learned of Jil Sander, it was through the infamous Market Tote. This designer screams minimalistic chic. In the case of the Market Tote, this sentiment definitely rings true. Super simple design meets super bright colors. The leather is luxuriously soft and the bag is versatile. I have always loved the idea of converting a handheld shopping tote into a shoulder bag with nothing more than a removable piece of leather. But Jil Sander is more than that one ingenious creation… so much more! Just take a look at the Jil Sander Textured Satchel. I stumbled across it the other day and it has been on my mind ever since!
This “tote” (as it is described) is actually more of a satchel. I love the simple lines and structured shape. It is very architectural in a way. The zippered top sort of pulls the sides of the bag in when closed, but it opens up super wide. It sort of reminds me of a doctors bag. I’m also liking the textured leather that was used for this piece. It has a rough pebbled feel to it. Not only does it stiffen up the bag and give it shape, but it actually adds some color depth as well. I love the dark blue-gray color of the high points and light blue color of the low points. This is a serious bag, perfect for when you want to be taken… well… seriously. Or at the very least, it would make a great bag for toting your stuff to work!
The Jil Sanders Textured Satchel retails for $1,835 at mytheresa!
