As seen on WWE Raw last night, Baron Corbin made his return to the Raw brand in the Superstar Shakeup, and he was joined by a surprising name in former WWE NXT Champion Drew McIntyre.
As we noted last week, despite Corbin’s WWE push having cooled off in the past year, Vince McMahon remains very high on Corbin as a potential future “major player” in WWE, and his move to Raw could be the beginning of a bigger push for the former U.S. Champion, speculates Dave Meltzer.
On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted, “Baron Corbin [is on Raw]for a big push. At least that’s the theory.”
While not confirmed, Meltzer added he got the feeling that moving Drew McIntyre over to Raw, and pairing him up with Dolph Ziggler, meant that McIntyre is headed into the mid-card scene in WWE, as Meltzer did not get the feeling that putting McIntyre with Ziggler felt like a “top guy” spot on Raw.
Meltzer also pointed to Vince McMahon being extremely high on Drew McIntyre years ago, but later souring on him, as another reason why McIntyre might not be headed towards the main event in WWE anytime soon.
