Usually when I think of the word “patchwork”, some very unpleasant things come to mind. In particular, I think of the Coach patchwork styles. For me, most of those were epic fails in the handbag fashion category. They just weren’t all that attractive. So you can imagine that I was a bit wary when I saw “patchwork” in the Newbark Oversized Patchwork Clutch. Was it as bad as I thought it was going to be? To my surprise, it was quite the opposite!
Newbark is a newcomer to the handbag world, having launched their handbag collection just last year in 2011. Looking at this lovely piece though, you really wouldn’t know it! I love the alternating rectangular patches of color and texture. There’s a little bit of everything in there. Metallic foils, solid colors, snake embossed… you name it. The way they are arranged almost reminds me of piano keys. Well, very colorful piano keys. Combine this with a great oversized shape and you have one great looking clutch! Plus you have the convenience of fitting a lot of stuff inside. It would make a wonderful conversation piece and would look great with your favorite black dress. Not bad for a patchwork style, huh?
