Graphic Art Bags: Burberry & Alaia

This has been brewing for a little while now. I will see a black and white print handbag popping up here and there. I have even written about a few. At first I thought it was a “spring fling” of sorts. But it looks like the graphic art trend is going to stick around for at least the rest of the year. You know me though, I love things that draw you in. Handbags are so much more fun that way! So naturally, I’m finding myself liking this trend. I love the bold black and white stripes. But I’m also loving the geometric prints. They are so tantalizing, almost hypnotic! Plus they look great paired with solids… no matter what the color. Below are a couple of pieces that have particularly caught my eye. Check them out!

Burberry Prorsum Herringbone Raffia Clutch
Graphic art and raffia? Who knew? This lovely clutch is from Burberry Prorsum’s 2012 Cruise Collection. I love the flap closure and its raw edges. The print is a bit busy, but I think the black leather belt grounds the look nicely. Perfect for those semi-dressy occasions where you don’t want to look too stuffy.

Alaïa Laser-Cut Leather Clutch
Super sleek and sophisticated, you really can’t go wrong with this clutch. I love how the black patent leather peeks through the laser-cut pattern in the smooth white leather exterior. It adds a whole new dimension to the graphic art look! Playful and sweet, the design looks like flowers or circles (depending on how you look at it). Perfect for adding a little statement to your favorite LBD.
