WWE RAW ON-SITE REPORT
JANUARY 22, 2019
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK.
REPORT BY JEREMY C., PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT

This was my first ever WWE event although I’ve been a fan since about 1998. I’ve never gotten to go though until this show and it was a lot of fun. Here is a rundown of my observations from the show.

WWE MAIN EVENT

Arena was decently full. Hard camera side was pretty sporadic seating. My wife and I were in section 102, about halfway up the lower bowl and looked straight down the ramp to the Titantron.

(1) Rezar (w/Drake Maverick) defeated Tyler Breeze. Not a squash as Breeze got some offense in, but Rezar won with a chokeslam.

(2) Mojo Rawley defeated No Way Jose. Competitive match with Rawley going over with a sit-out Alabamaslam for the pin.

RAW NOTES

-Good pop by OKC crowd for Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman was mesmerizing in person. He could sell ice to a polar bear or sand in the Sahara. Built up Balor for the Rumble. Vince McMahon came out to a really big pop. The crowd turned when he called us hillbillies and belittled Balor. Finn Balor came out to a really loud pop.

-During the pose-off, the crowd was cheering heavily for Apollo Crews.

-Seth Rollins got the biggest pop, I think. The crowd loved him.

-Seth vs. Drew McIntyre was a really good match. It got a couple of “This is Awesome!” chants. Drew did a reverse Alabamaslam on the outside and it looked wicked. The crowd popped hard again for Seth’s win.

-Lucha House Party is really over with kids in the crowd.

-Baron Corbin had the most the entire night. Big “ You Got Fired!” chant.

-Elias vs Baron Corbin was a dull match. It may have been the crowd losing interest. Some big heat on Corbin, though. Elias walked the ropes at one point a la Undertaker. He then jumped off and did what looked like an arm drag. It was really slow and sloppy looking.

-The crowd popped big for Alexa Bliss announcing she’d be in the Rumble.

-Otis and Tucker were fun. Some NXT chants. A Trash Compactor double team for the win by Heavy Machinery.

-Bobby Roode and Chad Gable were over. Some weirdos like me cheered for the Revival, including starting an “FTR” chant for the Revival.

-Those who knew of Zack Ryder popped for him.

-The crowd loved Ronda and would cheer when she called for it.

-The crowd took a bit to get into the show, but it was good through the Elias match. They seemed tired during the third hour. That hour was pretty quiet including the main event. Ronda got some good crowd reaction, though.

Biggest Pops:
-Seth Rollins and Ronda
-Finn
-Vince
-Elias
-Braun

Most Heel Heat:
-Baron Corbin by a long, long way
-Brock
-Michael Cole (Oklahoma has never forgiven him for the J.R. stuff)
-Drew
