RAW Report 11/9/09 Sheffield, England

RAW this week was taped a few hours ago due to the time differences between the USA and England. Even though the show is taped, I will be reporting it as if it’s live, the way I normally do. (I’m a creature of habit and HAVE to write this in present tense or will be all confused.) That being said, this week’s RAW starts with video of Cena in a Triple Threat last week with Jeri-Show. Of course Cena lost, but to the hands of Jericho. After the match they continued to attack Cena and then beat down DX when they came from announce to help. Jeri-Show left Cena and DX laying prone in the ring.

Music and pyro.

Justin Roberts announces Ricky Hatton after giving his boxing highlights. Hatton comes out with the Bella Twins dressed in stylized boxer shorts and hoodies of yellow and black. He welcomes Sheffield to RAW. He says when he invited he snapped it up in a second. He has great memories of the building and showed video of Hatton knocking out Carlos Maussa. The fans loved it. He said it was winning a World Title. He always thought of himself as a man of the people. What better way that to come to Sheffield and spend time with the people who are fans. He’s then cut off by Jeri-Show! Big Show looks very dapper in a suit, actually better looking in his suit than Jericho because he doesn’t do it so often. Big Show said he had a good English breakfast this morning and that it was bigger than Hatton. The fans don’t like that. Hatton’s out there talking about knocking people out? Big deal, he’s knocked people out to. So why doesn’t he do him and Jericho a favor and get out of their ring before they make a memory Hatton never forgets. Hatton asks Big Show why he has to be like that? Hatton’s a big fan of WWE and Big Show. He loved it when Big Show was knocked out by one of them boxers (meaning Mayweather). Big Show isn’t happy about that. Big Show says since Hatton liked that so much he’s giving him the same opportunity he gave Mayweather. He’s giving Hatton a free shot at Big Show’s chin, but he’s then going to knock him out. Big Show puts his chin out. Hatton says he’s up to the challenge as soon as he gets a ladder. Big Show says they don’t need a ladder. Big Show down on his knees and offers Hatton a shot. Hatton stretches out, draws back and is about to nail Big Show, but then Jericho jumps in the way and stops him. Jericho calls Hatton ‘little man’ even though they’re about eye to eye! Jericho tells Big Show he’s not going to let him be embarrassed by another low life boxer. Big Show has enough to worry about with the Triple Threat Match at SS facing Taker and Jericho. Big Show asks what that’s supposed to mean. Jericho says he’s the best he’s ever been and on a roll. He single handedly brought his team to victory at BR. He beat Cena single handedly last week. On SD! This week he’ll beat Taker, then at SS he’ll beat him again and Big Show to become Champion for the 6th time. Big Show calls Jericho Napoleon and tells him ego is running way out of check. The only person walking out of SS as new Champion will be Big Show. Hatton jumps in and says he’s Guest Host, he makes the decisions tonight. What he wants to see is them in the ring against DX. Jericho says he understands Hatton’s in charge tonight, but Jericho sees Hatton as being just as much of a gelatinous parasitic tapeworm as the rest of these dentally hygienically challenged plonkers in this arena tonight. These plebeians who follow the whims of the ultimate hypocrite Queen Elizabeth and her dysfunctional Royal family. That got him HUGE heat. Hatton asked Jericho what language he was speaking. He doesn’t’ ‘understanded’ a single word Jericho just said. Fans love that. Hatton said with all those big fancy words, Jericho’s in his country now and speak their language. The fans LOVE it! Jericho says he’s speaking perfect language. He called Hatton a punch drunk. Jericho goes on to say he’s a immensely honest, filled with integrity… Hatton said Jericho is just a guy with a bad haircut and to get out of his face. Hatton pushes Jericho back with his whole body, no hands. Jericho is pissed, but then out comes DX. The fans love DX! HHH says it’s hard to hear with all these Englishmen going crazy. HHH asks how long before Jeri-Show get it. They do the same thing over and over. They come out and interrupt these people every week. Big Show messed with Shaq who humiliated him in front of the whole world. Jericho messed with barker who pulled his punk card. They’re lucky they came out because it looked like they were five seconds from Hatton knocking them out in front of everyone. “Ricky” chants. HHH says they’re out to thank him for the match tonight and not to worry because they’ll take care of the Honey Monster (the mascot for a food company that WWE is doing a tie in with www.honeymonster.co.uk to check out the huge hairy guy) and Mr. Bean tonight. The fans LOVED that! HBK, channeling Honey Monster makes the fans go wild, said, “Actually, forget about tonight, why not right now?” And then HBK attacks Jericho who falls and rolls from the ring. Big Show removes his jacket, rolls up his sleeves and then leaves rather than face the three of them. HHH says that’s the way it goes because there’s only one DX and one Ricky Hatton. Hatton finishes that if you’re not down with that… They pose and everything for the in ring pyro.

Video of Sheamus kicking Noble’s butt last week in the match the ref had to stop. But then Sheamus beat on Noble even more! Cole said Noble is injured, spent a couple days in the hospital and is contemplating retirement.

A British car on stage and then Sheamus out to the ring, glowing. Sheamus says last week he said he was going to end Noble’s career and he did. Now he’s going to do what the Irish have always done. He’s going to walk through this Englishman and make him look like a fool. An unnamed Englishman is already in the ring.

They lock up, but Sheamus throws him back, then into a corner. He’s slammed to the mat by Sheamus and then into another corner. Sheamus grabs him and slams him into the corner again. This guy gets his feet up, but then he’s slammed back and Sheamus lands a number of elbow drops. Sheamus pulls him up and hits his backbreaker on him. Sheamus stalks him and then kicks him in the face. The man is a noodle on the mat. Sheamus pulls him up and then hits what I’d call a border toss, but I watch Hernandez on TNA. Sheamus covered for three.

– Winner: Sheamus

Video of the squash match. Sheamus keeps kicking the guy in the head to push him around more.

Cole said WWE.com has won a couple of awards recently. Then go on to talk about Hatton’s new health club he opened.

Hatton backstage with the Bella Twins. They ask what he’s been up to lately. He says he’s promoting boxing now. He also has his own clothing line and his health club. Brie says she heard Hatton was great at darts and wondered if he could show them a few things. But then Santino comes in wearing this light blue and black fringed outfit that Hatton wore – it’s says Fatton up and down each leg. He was doing something teasing people who picked on his weight when Hatton wore this fat suit that Santino is now in. Santino and Hatton shake hands. Santino starts to introduce himself but the Bellas cut in and say his name. he says not today and asks Hatton to say who he is today. Hatton says he’s Ricky Fatton. Santino cuts on English foods a bit. Chavo comes in and comments on Santino being there and kissing up to the guest host, as usual. Then Chavo comments on the darts and says he plays darts himself. He’s won the Cinco Dart Mayo competition. Hatton hands Chavo a dart to throw. Chavo says he can beat Hatton at darts or at anything. Chavo’s shot is horrible, Hatton hit’s a bulls eye! Chavo say’s he’s there to challenge Santino. Santino says he’s Ricky Fatton. They go back and forth arguing about who Santino is. Hatton says they should do boxing against wrestling. Chavo likes that. Chavo gets in Santino’s face. Hatton says not that Ricky, this Ricky. Chavo is pissed and stomps out.

Josh with Miz and asks about SS and how his team is going against Morrison’s. Miz says he’s the only one from RAW who won at BR. His team is the up and coming elite. The faces of the future, winners. He’s the Miz and he’s… Swagger is there taunting him. They go back and forth with call phrases. Swagger says to watch what Swagger does to Bourne tonight. Miz says he beat Bourne last week. Swagger says Bourne beat him the week before. Swagger says after his win they will make him captain. They go back and forth a bit more, but nothing more comes of it.

Evan Bourne out to the ring. Swagger out to face him.

Swagger gets Evan up and slams him down. Forearm to Evan’s back and then Evan face first into a corner. Evan into another corner. Evan whipped than slammed down on the mat. Swagger up on the second ropes and then splashes Evan. Swagger hits some push-ups to show what a bad ass he is, then grabs Evan’s wrists to wrench back with a knee in his back. Double chicken wing into a corner and then shoulder blocks to Evan. The ref has to get Swagger back, but then Evan fights back with a knee and then flies off the corner. Evan pins a couple times quickly. Swagger punches back but then Evan rides Swagger to the mat with his knees on Swagger’s chest for two. But then Swagger kicks Evan in the face. Miz’s music hits and he comes out with a mic. He motions for Swagger to continue. Belly to belly on Evan as Miz looks on. Evan on the apron. Swagger goes to hit a delayed vertical suplex to bring Evan into the ring, but Evan knees Swagger in the head a couple times to get out of the move and then kicks Swagger in the chin. Evan climbs and hits his SSP! Evan pins Swagger for three!

– Winner: Evan Bourne

Evan poses, but Miz on the mic says he’s the team captain because he’s the Miz and he’s awesome! Miz backs up the ramp smiling (obviously wearing too much bronzer – right in front of his ear is white but the rest of his face looks orangey tanned) and Swagger glares at him from the mat.

Backstage, Henry and MVP heading for the ring.

Video of Kofi flying onto Legacy and Orton, followed by Henry slamming Cody and then pinning to with their tag match. The fans are wild. MVP proposes a toast to their SS captain, Kofi. Tonight they’re in the UK and straight up ballin’! Orton’s music and out comes all of Legacy to the ring. They’re stopped at a velvet rope by a big black man in a suit. Finally, after a lot of glaring, they’re let through. MVP, Henry and Kofi are lined up in the ring, ready for them. Orton says the three of them act like they’re sitting on top of the world or something. They’re nothing but low class street thugs. Take Henry, for example. Last week he stole a victory. Henry didn’t like that. MVP is the definition of the common criminal. MVP’s eyes bugged out of his head at Orton. Orton said that Kofi should be in jail after what he did to Orton’s car. Kofi smiled. Orton says the only reason he hasn’t taken Kofi down is because he wants to embarrass the entire team at SS. Cody then calls MVP, Montell and ask how this is supposed to be VIP? MVP looks VIP, designer shoes, cute little watch, but his surroundings aren’t very VIP – some disgruntled outcasts and an ex-con. Ted says they think they’re ballin’ with their pleather couches and their $50 bottle of champagne? Their banks account pales in comparison to his. MVP says Ted means his Daddy’s bank account! Orton says they were all born in this business. It’s where they belong. The only place THEY belong is the hood that they came from. They all bow up and get in each other’s faces. Backstage Chavo shadow boxes.

– Commercial

Chavo out to the ring. Ricky Hatton wearing a huge sombrero and a poncho that says ‘HITMAN’ on it. Hatton removes the sombrero and then throws the poncho into the crowd – only makes it to the front row, but a fan gets it. Justin announces this is an MMA match, but has specific rules. The boxer (Hatton) can only win via knockout and the wrestler (Chavo) can only win via pinfall or submission. (Oy!) then Justin announces them both. Hatton’s weight is listed as “slightly over 140lbs”. King asks if that might be like 50lbs over 140lbs?

Hatton puts a hand out to touch gloves. Chavo slaps the top of it, then lightly slaps Hatton’s face! Hatton is hot! Hatton right on Chavo as the bell rings and Chavo out through the ropes. The ref gets Hatton back. Chavo in and Hatton right on him again, but Chavo into the ropes to hide. Hatton plays it up well and plays the crowd so well! Cena says it’s a personality problem and he has been working on it. Even still, they have a Triple Threat Match at SS and maybe they should focus on that! Cena knows they’re best buds and he’s odd man out. He doesn’t get birthday party invitations, they occasionally Tweet each other. HHH says contrary to popular belief, they’ve never Tweeted each other, not that there’s anything wrong with that. HBK tells Cena not to distract them. That Cena’s playing the old shell game with the leprechaun! HBK says Cena knows where he is. Cena says maybe he does, maybe he does. They want a whimsical leprechaun? Cena calls out Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle comes out in Cena gear. Cena says to not hang him on a hook or he gets angry and more surly, you’ve got to talk to him nice. And he learns too, look at this – Cena tells Hornswoggle to do the thing. Hornswoggle does the hand in front of the face. They did it together. HBK says maybe they can’t see him. But at SS maybe they can’t see him. HBK leaves. Cena says to HHH that he doesn’t know what that meant. HHH says something stinks here and this time it’s not just Hornswoggle. HHH leaves and then Cena tells Hornswoggle they’re gone. Hornswoggle strips down to his DX gear and goes crotch chop crazy. Cena says he doesn’t understand him and leaves.

– Winner: DX

Video of Big Show screwing up the end of the match. DX in the ring hurting. Roberts then announces he’s just been informed that next week’s main event will be a Triple Threat Tag Team Match featuring DX versus Jeri-Show versus… Roberts sounded shocked and confused. Cena is standing on the announce table. He smiles and point as the GONG hits. The lights go out. Cena still smiling watches as Taker comes out to the stage and stares as DX looks on in shock. Jeri-Show look ill as they stare up at Taker.
