During the latest episode of New Day’s: Feel The Power podcast, the trio discussed the infamous 2015 Elimination Chamber match.
While that PPV saw the first-ever Tag Team Championship Chamber match take place, the match people remember is the Elimination Chamber for the Intercontinental Championship.
The match was universally panned and is often seen as the worst Chamber match in history. New Day discussed this on their podcast, with Big E reflecting on the match they were in first.
“It could easily become a trainwreck, but it was very solid, I thought, for the most part.”
However, he quickly went on to discuss the other Chamber match that night, and he didn’t hold back with his scathing review.
“That tag team elimination chamber was the first one ever, but it also featured an Elimination Chamber for the men that was, dare I say, atrocious. I’m not beating around the bush, it was terrible, it was trash. Wade Barrett was checked out at the time, and he decided to take someone and ram them through Mark Henry’s pod.
Mark’s pod is not meant to be open for quite some time, so when he does this, it sets in motion a chain reaction. Mark decides to not come out because it’s not his time to come out, but there’s nothing stopping him, all he has to do is move his feet forwards. It’s so awkward to me.”
Xavier Woods then gave his opinion on what happens when certain things go wrong within a wrestling match.
“When you’re a performer, watching that happen to someone, it feels like forever. But when you’re the one it’s happening too, that is terrifying because three seconds can feel like 30 minutes. Sometimes it’s more difficult to relay a message to more people, there’s no way to get back on the same wavelength.”
