Believe it or not, Moschino’s Spring 2015 Collection was inspired by Barbie. And when I say Barbie, I really mean Barbie! The runway featured models in platinum blonde wigs and bubblegum pink clothing such as a shrunken leather jacket and matching skirt. When asked about the collection, Jeremy Scott was quoted saying:
In a way, I sort of agree with him. I mean, Barbie has been criticized a lot in recent years. But when I looked at Barbie, I didn’t see her ridiculously proportioned body. I saw a powerful woman who could be anything she wanted to be. That being said, a lot of the pieces in this collection are not very practical for everyday. You heard right, the Moschino Barbie Bag is actually inflatable. There are plugs where you can fill the chambers on each part of the bag with air. Definitely unusual, but I do like the multicolored MOSCHINO charm on the front. My only thought is that this bag might actually work better if it wasn’t so big. Something as brightly colored as this often does better as a mini bag.
