According to Sports Illustrated, Major League Wrestling’s first two-hour network special has been announced, as BeIN Sports will air the upcoming “Battle Riot” event, taking place in New York City, on Friday, July 27, at 8 p.m. ET.
“I heavily considered pay per view, but I want to give the fans something special and do it for free,” Bauer said. “Some promoters put a price tag on everything and I could see the temptation here, but I want to reward fans that have been supporting us. Disruption is key for MLW, and a free two-hour special is the ultimate disruption. BeIN is a great partner and I’m glad they agree.”
The SI report notes Bauer intended to rin the Battle Riot concept, which will be a Royal Rumble, Battle Royal and a Street Fight all in one match, back when he worked on WWE’s creative team. The bout can be won via pinfall, submission, or by throwing the opponent over the top rope.
Below is the updated Battle Riot card, which will also serve as an MLW TV taping:
40-man Battle Riot match featuring:
-Jake Hager, Rich Swann, Jason Cade, Joey Ryan, Pierre Carl Oulette, Kevin Sullivan, ACH, Swoggle, John Morrison, Lance Anoa’i, Konnan, Sami Callihan, Davey Boy Smith Jr, Teddy Hart and more.
-The Hart Foundation, Teddy Hart & Davey Boy Smith Jr. (with Brian Pillman II) vs. ACH and Rich Swann.
-Low Ki vs. John Hennigan.
-Jimmy Havoc vs. Pentagon Jr.
