Lyon reach agreement with Ajax for Nicolás Tagliafico

L’Équipe are reporting that Olympique Lyonnais have reached an agreement with Ajax for the sale of Nicolás Tagliafico (29). Although the Argentine international is reportedly “seduced by the project” he has not yet given his response, and the Ligue 1 side are wanting to wrap up the deal quickly.

Ajax are thought to have accepted a deal worth around €4m before bonuses. According to L’Équipe, the left-back is stalling a deal in the hope of potentially securing a more lucrative offer from Brighton, or one from a club already qualified for European competition next season.

Whilst Tagliafico is the priority, Lyon have lined up backups. Having missed out on Tyrell Malacia (22) to Manchester United at the final hour, the club are also targeting Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo (26), Villareal’s Pervis Estupiñán (24) and Rennes’ Adrien Truffert (20).

Peter Bosz hopes to complete the deal for Tagliafico as soon as possible in order to have a complete pre-season with him as well as any other potential arrivals. The club have already been very active in the current transfer window, returning Alexandre Lacazette (31) and Corentin Tolisso (27) to the club on free transfers. Promising prospect Johann Lepenant (19) has also arrived on a €4.25m deal from Ligue 2 side SM Caen.
