Grandma-meets-Bohemian Chic: Gucci Needlepoint Embroidery Bamboo Tote

When you think of needlepoint embroidery, what is the first thing that comes to mind? The technique has historical roots which date back thousands of years, and more notably that last couple of centuries, as a domestic craft during the 16th century. It’s a very retro technique that high-end designers such as Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci have played with in more recent time. So when I saw the latest edition of the Gucci Bamboo Handbag Collection it was no surprise to see that the designer incorporated it to the collection.

When bag designers come out with handbags dressed with embroidery, it is usually a hit or miss with me. Quite honestly I feel as if it gives the bag a grandma-esque vibe, and being 31, it is quite possible that I’m not old enough to really appreciate these bags. Regardless of the embroidery print, I adore the Gucci bamboo handbag style. A little bit of a resort look to me, but nonetheless gives the bag a more bohemian-chic look.

The Gucci Bamboo Shopper Embroidered Tote is currently available with the Tiger or Floral Bloom print. Available here at Neiman Marcus, retails for $3,790.
