AS Nancy Lorraine President calls his players “little idiots”

AS Nancy Lorraine President Jacques Rousselot probably had one of his worst ever days yesterday. Hours after losing the French Football Federation Presidential election to Noël Le Graët, his Ligue 1 side allowed a two goal lead to slip to a direct relegation rival in FC Lorient, piling pressure on Pablo Correa’s men to beat the drop.

For Rousselot, where he intended to lay the blame for this on-pitch disaster was very clear:

“I told the players that they were little idiots, that they needed to move their arses… the players let go. It is unacceptable. They did not show us that they were at the Ligue 1 level, despite the fact that they must accept that they are lucky to even be in Ligue 1. The manager will stay with us. He will do what is necessary. The players, they, they must be exemplary. There is no urgency attached to selling the club. What is urgent is securing Ligue 1 safety.”
