Alexander McQueen Floral De Manta Clutch

Is it just me? Or has Alexander McQueen been a bit obsessed with art deco-ish designs lately? I say this because I have been seeing a lot of black and white designs, as well as geometric patterns. Heck, even that Naive Pagan Unicorn Clutch I wrote about recently had an art deco vibe to it simply because it was a black and white mirror imaged print. It doesn’t matter that the print depicted a couple of unicorns. But when I saw the clutch pictured here, it really sealed the deal on this feeling I have. Meet the Alexander McQueen Floral De Manta Clutch!

What can I say? The red and white pattern is so striking! I love how there is just a touch of black added in there as well. The simplicity of this pattern makes this iconic piece appear even more iconic. And yet, the pattern is also a bit puzzling. The flowers are bright red, just like poppies. But there are six petals and poppies are typically not depicted as having six petals. They can have up to six petals though. In real life, I mean. Oh well, I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Whether the flowers are based on real or fictional flowers, they are still quite beautiful and perfect for adding a little pop of color to an otherwise sophisticated look.
